Organized by the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sports Federation of the City of Mostar, on Thursday, May 23, 2019. starting at 11:00, the traditional event marking the Day of Olympism - "Olympic Day 2019" will be realized.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sports Federation of the City of Mostar, on Thursday, May 23, 2019. at 11:00,  organize the traditional event marking the "Olympic Day 2019". This year, the event is held in one of the most beautiful springs and natural environments of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Vrelo Bune, Blagaj.

As part of the Olympic Day project, national Olympic committees around the world organize sports, cultural and educational activities. This year's Olympic Day will give young people the opportunity to enjoy discovering 10 sports: karate, judo, gymnastics, boxing, badminton, archery, archery, backgammon, orienteering and sport climbing as a new sport that will be on the list of sports at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

The participation of 300 schoolchildren from twenty-four Mostar schools has been announced. All participants of the Olympic Day will receive T-shirts for their participation, as well as a diploma, signed by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Thomas Bach and the President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Siniša Kisić.

The "Olympic Day" was established in 1948, in memory of the birth of the modern Olympic Games on June 23, 1894 in the Sorbonne in Paris, France. The goal of this event was to promote participation in sports around the world, regardless of age, gender or physical fitness. Over the last 20 years, “Olympic Day” has become a global phenomenon. From the initial 45 Olympic Committees that participated in 1987, the number of participating Olympic Committees has expanded to over 180.

As this year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee by its founder, Pierre de Coubertin, this is a great opportunity to celebrate the Olympic spirit and the values ​​that sport brings with it. Given the kind of world we live in, Olympic Day is a great reminder that sport can unite us and make the world a much better place for all of us.

OLYMPIC DAY is much more than a sporting event, it is World Activity Day when young generations celebrate Olympic values ​​- excellence, friendship and respect, and at the same time the three basic pillars of Olympic Day - movement, learning and discovery.
