Tonight in Trieste, the 16th Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) was opened with a solemn ceremony on the Square of the Unification of Italy.

With more than 30 years of tradition, EYOF is the most important multi-sport event for young European athletes. EYOF is more than a sports competition because it inspires and helps the development of Europe's young athletes.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina delegation was led at the ceremonial parade by flag bearers Tarik Zuhrić and Lana Galijašević who, together with their colleagues from the national team, will defend the colors of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the next 9 days of the competition, which will be represented by a total of 10 athletes accompanied by 4 coaches in 5 sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, and curling.

EYOF Friuli Venezia Giulia will be held from January 21 to 28, 2023, and athletes from 47 European countries, aged 14 to 18 years, will compete in a total of 14 winter sports that are on the Festival's program.
