GOODBYE BEIJING 2022 | SEE YOU AT THE MILANO CORTINA 2026 WINTER GAMES

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics officially closed on February 20, 2022 at the Bird's Nest National Stadium, under the slogan "One World, One Family".

The closing ceremony began with elements of Chinese tradition and the lighting of lanterns, and a special symbol of the ceremony was the Chinese knot which represents China's connection with the rest of the world and the Olympic spirit and unification of all people through Olympic values of respect, friendship, excellence and togetherness.

Due to restrictive measures, and the protection of the health of athletes at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the ceremonial parade of athletes was held in a slightly different form, where athletes who had their last performance at the Games carried the flags of their countries. Therefore, the honor of carrying the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics belonged to our Strahinja Eric, who competed in cross-country skiing at the Games.

Volunteers, who are an integral and indispensable part of all the Olympic Games, also received special awards during the Closing Ceremony, in honor of the volunteerism movement.

The next segment of the Ceremony presented the Chinese tradition of giving a willow branch as a farewell gift to a parting friend, with the hope and faith that they will meet again.

Throughout the Closing Ceremony, the focus was on videos that represented the struggle, happiness, sadness and challenges of athletes at these Winter Olympics. Finally, the Olympic flag was handed over to the cities of Milan and Cortina d'ampezzo, which will organize the Winter Olympics for the first time as two host cities, with the slogan "Duality, Together".

Thanks to Elvedina, Mirza, Emir, Strahinja, Sanja and Esma for the presentation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. These were demanding Games, where athletes, in addition to the usual challenges, such as difficult weather conditions, had to fight the toughest restrictive measures.

Until the next Winter Olympic Games Milan Cortina 2026, we wish our athletes good health, a lot of sports luck and don't forget "WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER".
