Hamza Turulja won 5th place at World Karate Championship

Our best karate player, Hamza Turulja, after five wins and two losses, finished in fifth place at the World Karate Championship in Budapest.

In the individual part of the competition, he competed among 82 representatives, and he successively defeated the representatives of Algeria, Chinese Taipei, Kenya, Turkey and Korea, and was defeated in the semi-finals by the representatives of Hungary and the winner of the Olympic bronze.

He lost the bronze medal match to the Russian representative who competed under a neutral flag.

The men's team in the battles of Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated the national teams of Senegal 3:1, Canada 3:0, Hungary 3:0 and in the semi-final match they lost to France 3:2.

In the team part, Hamza registered three victories in the same number of matches, defeating the representative of Senegal with a score of 8:0, the representative of Hungary against whom he lost in the semifinals of the individual part with a score of 4:1, and the Olympic winner and three-time consecutive world champion from France with a score of 4:3.

Among the other BiH competitors, Mahir Džuho placed seventh after three wins and two losses in the category up to 84 kilograms.

Let's remember that Hamza has won four world medals so far, silver at the under-21 world championship in Chile, silver at the World University Games in Turkey, silver in the junior competition at the Youth League in Croatia and a gold senior medal at the World Series A in Indonesia.
