OK BiH & Let's Do It | Realized volunteer cleaning action throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina

"Olympic arenas and environmentally sustainable development 2021" is a project by which the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a special partner in the action of the World Cleaning Day implemented in our country by Let's Do It Bosnia and Herzegovina

Despite the rain in the morning, about 2,000 hard-working volunteers at all locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina collected a significant amount of waste. Due to the epidemiological situation, the number of volunteers in organized cleaning actions was limited. This year, the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a special partner in 10 BiH cities and municipalities: Sarajevo, Jajce, Tuzla, Cazin, Zenica, Bosanski Petrovac, Pale, Konjic, Trebinje, and Žepce, and a special pleasure are the actions of cleaning the Olympic arenas - Bob track on Trebević and Malo polje on Igman. Our action was supported by BH. athletes, Olympian Nedžad Husić and Mirza Nikolajev, scholarship holder of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, who joined the hard-working volunteers at Trebevic.

The importance of acting within the framework of sustainable development is in line with the strategy and recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, which in 1996 committed itself to promote sustainable development and environmental protection. Thus, the environment has become the third pillar of Olympism, along with sports and culture whose role is an important part of the 2020 + 5 Olympic agenda.

With gratitude to the Let's Do It Bosnia and Herzegovina team, volunteers, journalists, media, and everyone who participates in awareness-raising activities on this issue, the Secretary-General of the OK BiH, dr. sci. Said Fazlagić pointed out that it is our responsibility to leave better conditions to the next generations that come from what we have inherited. Olympic values - excellence, friendship, and respect are not only Olympic but also universal values that we need to apply to all aspects of our lives and activities, especially in relation to the environment in which we live. Let the Olympic values and Olympism be the inspiration for the positive changes that we will build together, said dr. sci. Fazlagic.

This year's edition of the Project is the seventh in a row special partnership within which OK BiH participates organizationally, logistically, and materially in the realization of the most massive environmental volunteer activity in our country.
