Aleksandra Samardžić | Europe Open-Sofia 2023

Aleksandra Samardžić, judo member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team won second place, a silver medal at the European Open in the category up to 70 kg.

 

The European Open is a qualifying competition for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which was held on February 11 and 12, 2023. in Sofia, where 43 countries from all over the world took part.

Aleksandra Samardžić in the category up to 70 kg was one of the holders of the tournament, so she was free in the first round, and in the second round she defeated the representative of France, Linon Alison. In the quarter-finals, she was better than the local representative Brancheva Lidija, while in the semi-finals she defeated the Ukrainian Natalya Chystiakova. In the final fight, Aleksandra met her old opponent Szabina Gerczak from Hungary, whom she failed to defeat this time, a golden silver for our Bosnian sports heroine!

Božidar Vučurević, who is in the category up to 81 kg, made excellent placements at the European Open and achieved a ranking among the 5th best, while Anđela Samardžić up to 57kg and Toni Miletić up to 90kg took 7th place.

With an excellent performance at the European Open in Sofia, our national team members achieved new points for the World and Olympic ranking list, and we expect them to continue with good results in the upcoming tournaments.
