Amel Tuka- Athlete of the Year 2019!

Amel Tuka expressed his gratitude to the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing: "It is a great honor and pleasure for me to hold this speech as the best athlete in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I did not keep all my medals and competitions for myself, because all the medals of us athletes belong to all of you. Dear athletes, proudly represent your clubs and your country."

In the festive ambience of the Olympic Museum of the Olympic Committee of BiH and with a live TV broadcast on FACE TV, the 9th in a row ceremony " Athlete of the Year" was held and organized by the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The selection of the athlete in 2019, once again gathered the most eminent persons of Bosnian sports, representatives of the BiH authorities and embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At this year's event, the audience was addressed by prof.dr. Izet Radjo, President of the Olympic Committee of BiH, who began his speech with the words: "Tonight we celebrate the best ambassadors of Bosnia and Herzegovina", and ended with words addressed to athletes: "To you, dear athletes, the Olympic Committee of BiH will wish to remain consistent guards of Olympic values, the best ambassadors of the Bosnia and Herzegovina. This state believes in you, as does your faithful companion on your sports trip - the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina “.

Our best athlete - Amel Tuka was declared the athlete of 2019. In his speech, Amel Tuka expressed his gratitude to the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing: "It is a great honor and pleasure for me to hold this speech as the best athlete in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I did not keep all my medals and competitions for myself, because all the medals of us athletes belong to all of you. Dear athletes, proudly represent your clubs and your country " Amel also thanked his coach Gianni Ghidiniu, who is also the winner of the special award "Top coaching result". Our best athlete achieved historic success for Bosnia and Herzegovina last year, winning a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in Doha. Amel had outstanding results throughout the year, and won the US-Europe duel, held in Minsk. At the same time, he achieved the Olympic norm for Tokyo 2020.

Among the prominent awards, Razija Mujanović was awarded a special IOC award. She especially pointed out that today's women have a better position in sports. Razija is actively working on educating young people and transferring knowledge.

Furthermore, letter of gratitude for the contribution to the Olympic Movement and the realization of the EYOF Sarajevo and East Sarajevo 2019 project was presented to the mayors of the two host cities, Mr. Abdulah Skaka, the Mayor of Sarajevo and Mr. Nenad Vuković, the Mayor of East Sarajevo. The mayors thanked for another in a series of awards, with special gratitude to the large number of people behind the scenes who made the organization of the largest sporting event in the 21st century in
these two cities possible.

-Sports promoters of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Special Olympics BiH, Kickboxing Federation BiH, Mile Matijević, Branislav Pavić, Hanifa Terzić, Emir Baralić

- Athlete or team from the family of non-Olympic sports: Hasan Sejdinović - Special Olympics, Selma Baltić - Kickboxing, Igor Emkić, Edin Vučelj - Kickboxing, Sanjin Pehlivanović - Billiards 

-Special award for outstanding sports result: Azra Dedić - ID Judo, Anđela Stojić - Karate

-Fair Play Award: Vedad Karić

- Award for media promotion of Olympic values: Haris Mrkonja, Dragiša Ćorsović

- Award for successful long-term coaching work: Neđo Đurović 

-BiH Sports Ambassador: Milanko Mučibabić, Enver Marić, Sejfo Šehović 

-Special award for top coaching result: Gianni Ghidini
