BC "Bosna" became European champion 45 years ago

On this day, 45 years ago, BC "Bosna" achieved one of the greatest successes of Bosnian sports by winning the title of European champion.

The popular "Students" were the first basketball club from the former state to ascend to the throne of Europe.

On April 5, 1979, in the Palais des Sports hall in Grenoble, Bosnia defeated the Italian Emerson Varese in the final of the European Champions Cup with a score of 96:93.

The golden generation was led from the bench by Bogdan Tanjević, and the "Bosna" jersey was worn by: Žarko Varajić, Mirza Delibašić, Ratko Radovanović, Sabit Hadžić, Boro Vučević, Predrag Benaček, Ante Đogić, Boško Bosiočić, Nihad Izić, Svetislav Pešić, Dragan Zrno, Sabahudin Bilalović and Almir Dervišbegović and Sulejman Duraković who were not among the 12 players in the final match.

In the final game, Žarko Varajić scored 45 points, while Mirza Delibašić Kindje added 30 points.
