The two-year international Erasmus+ project dedicated to the dual careers of athletes ended this week with the Final Conference in Zagreb.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a partner in the MLEA - Micro-Learning Entrepreneurship for Athletes project, which is co-financed by the European Union within the Erasmus+ program, attended the seventh partner meeting held on March 13, 2023, and the Final Conference on March 14, 2023, in the premises of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management.

The final Multiplier Sport Event was opened by International Olympic Committee member Ms. Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, Minister of Sports and Tourism Ms. Nikolina Brnjac, and Dean of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management Mato Njavro. The meeting was also attended by representatives of business schools from Germany, Sweden, and Croatia, the European University Sports Association as well as the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.

The meeting discussed the establishment of online education that will be specially created for active and former athletes on the topic of micro-learning in entrepreneurship and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to facilitate the transition from sports to an entrepreneurial career. The e-platform is in the final stage and will be available to the general public in the month of April, which will contain 10 modules.

During the Conference, the results of the project were presented:

Result 1/2 - Analysis, research, and recording process of microlearning, Martin Carlsson Wall (SSE)

Result 3 - Canvas model; E-platform, prof. dr Sascha Schmidt

Result 4 – Presentation of the gamification platform, Mirna Koričan Lajtman (ZSEM)

As part of the "MLEA" Final Conference, two-panel discussions were held, All-Star and Young Hopeful where leading experts and successful Croatian athletes were guests, and the following topics were discussed:

  • Problems faced by athletes after the end of their sports career;
  • The school system and athletes;
  • Entrepreneurial abilities of athletes and former athletes;
  • Potential and opportunities for athletes in the labor market;
  • Development of a specialized curriculum on entrepreneurship for athletes and former athletes;
  • Dissemination of the project during implementation and after the Final Conference.

This two-year international Erasmus+ project is dedicated to athletes who find it difficult to follow and balance a professional sports career and education, which often results in their unpreparedness for the labor market.
