Formation of Regional Boxing League

Presidents of boxing federations of the six countries gathered on Friday, February 19, 2021. in Belgrade, where the Declaration on the launch of the Regional Boxing League was officially signed, in the presence of Umar Kremlev, President of the World Boxing Federation.

The regional boxing league should start by the end of April this year, and will bring together boxing clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Northern Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia. through the field of sport, which has a significant role to play in promoting a culture of dialogue, tolerance and mutual understanding.

Also, the League aims to return regional clubs with a long tradition to the European and International scene, which have produced European, World and Olympic champions, such as Zeljeznicar, Radnicki, Partizan, Red Star, Pula, Dinamo from Zagreb, Buducnost-Podgorica .

"The league will certainly be a hope for boxers from BiH, but also from the entire region. It will gather the highest quality boxers, give them a chance to prove themselves. At the same time, it will be a kind of test station for boxers on their way to Europe and the World. "

Through the formation of the Regional Boxing League, the goal is to contribute to raising the quality of club boxing and boxing promotion at the regional level, primarily through the launch of Grand Prix tournaments, which will aim to integrate existing tournaments within a single and common brand. What is also significant is that TV broadcasts of this competition are also provided.

Among other things, the declaration states that by establishing the Regional League and Grand Prix tournament (as its final annual component), the goal is to contribute to the strengthening of individual and joint positions within the International Boxing Association.
