Beijing 2022 Olympics - "The opening ceremony will be unprecedented in the last 100 years of the Olympic Games." - (Zhang Yimou)

On February 4, 2022, the Olympic flame will be lit at the Olympic Stadium in Beijing (Bird's Nest), which will mark the beginning of the 24th Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

By the way, Beijing will be the only city that hosted the Summer and Winter Olympics.

The general manager of the Beijing 2022 Opening Ceremony, Zhang Yimou, has promised that the ceremony will be unprecedented in the last 100 years of the Olympics.

A total of 3,000 artists will take part in the opening ceremony, of which 2008 are drummers, compared to 15,000 who took part in the 2008 Beijing opening ceremony.

For the sake of the visit, at the same stadium, the Olympic flame was lit in 2008 by the three-time gold medalist at the 1984 Olympics, Li Ning, who flew through the air on a trapeze and lit a flame on top of the stadium roof.
Zhang now states that this year’s ignition of the boiler at the opening will certainly be innovative and different, hinting at the bold design of the torch and the boiler.

He also hinted that during the design special attention was paid to nature conservation as well as reducing carbon emissions.
