Ivica Osim Švabo (1941 – 2022)

‘’Prošao sam cijeli svijet i džaba sve to…Ko se jednom vode napije sa Sebilja, poslije je samo dolijeva…’’

Ivica Osim – Švabo

Today, Bosnia and Herzegovina was left without one of its most famous sports, but also human, ambassadors. Ivica Osim Švabo left us forever at the age of 81. There are few football players who can boast that they participated in the Olympic Games. Even rarer are those who had the honor of experiencing the Olympics both as footballers and as coaches.

Švabo is one of them. In Tokyo in 1964, he fought on the field to win an Olympic medal, and in Los Angeles in 1984, as a coach, he won bronze in the biggest sports competition. All clubs and national teams headed by the blonde Bosnian were successful and he left his indelible mark everywhere. And everywhere he pointed out who he was and where he came from. He is the winner of numerous awards.

The entire Olympic family of Bosnia and Herzegovina is saying goodbye to a great man, an Olympian, a football player, a coach and a visionary.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ivica Osim.
