Nedžad Husić won 5th place at the World Taekwondo Championship

Nedžad Husić won fifth place at the World Taekwondo Championship, which took place in Azerbaijan. The best taekwondo fighter from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the best-placed BIH Olympian at the OI Tokyo, was free as the seed in the first round, in the second and third rounds he achieved victories over the representatives of America and Niger, while in the quarter-finals he was stopped by the representatives of Serbia.

With this performance, Husić won fifth place for the third time in a row. He achieved the same result at the championship in Manchester in 2019 and Guadalajara in 2022.

In addition to Husić, seven other BIH athletes took part in the World Championship, Ada Avdagić, Dinko Šegedin, Petra Ždero, Muhamed and Ibrahim Đonko, Katarina Kraišnik and Ivana Šarenac. Muhamed Đonko and Petra Ždero achieved one victory each, while the others were stopped in the first round.

Husić, Avdagić, and Šegedin expect new performances soon. They will perform for the taekwondo team of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Games starting on June 21 in Krakow.
