NOC BIH urges State Institutions to support sport

The Olympic Committee of BiH sent a request for support to sport and athletes during the Covid-19 pandemic to the competent state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Government of Republika Srpska, Government of Federation of BiH , Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Federation of BiH, Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of Republika Srpska, Government of Sarajevo Canton and Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton.

The request contains the following text:

"We take this opportunity to address you regarding the delicate situation that was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The whole BiH society is affected. We are witnesses that this situation will last and that the damage in all segments of the society will be felt. We notice that the competent state and entity ministries and institutions are trying to find the most adequate solutions for the salvation of the economy, health, etc. Unfortunately, we did not notice that anyone mentions and thinks about saving sport and athletes, who indeed are the best ambassadors of any society and who in these difficult times show sport spirit and character of fair play through the organization of humanitarian and donor actions to help others who are infected and helpless on their path of physical and mental salvation and recovery. In this regard, we ask you personally, but also institutionally, to help BiHsport, which has been ignored for decades as well as its athletes, by devising concrete actions and approving significant financial resources for our top athletes who are preparing for the Olympic Games in these conditions, as well as for the Olympic Committee of BiH and the sport federations of BiH that take care of our athletes."
