OC BiH and Let's Do It | Press conference before the big cleaning action on Saturday

As part of a special partnership with Let's Do It Bosnia and Herzegovina, a large cleaning action in our country was officially announced today at a press conference, which will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, on World Cleaning Day.

During his address at the press conference, Dr. sci. Said Fazlagić, Secretary General of the OK BiH, presented the long-term cooperation within the special partnership, the importance of acting within the framework of sustainable development, noting that back in 1996, the International Olympic Committee obliged itself to promoting sustainable development and environmental protection, and thus all Olympic committees of the world. Thus, the environment has become the third pillar of Olympism, together with sports and culture whose role is an important part of the 2020 + 5 Olympic agenda. With gratitude to the LDI team, volunteers, journalists, media and everyone involved in awareness raising activities on this issue, Dr. sci. Fazlagić pointed out that it is our responsibility to leave better conditions to the next generations that come from what we have inherited.

PR Let's Do It project Nejra Šehić announced that organized actions will be carried out in 30 BiH cities, and due to the epidemiological situation this year, there were no calls for mass actions, as was the case until 2020. However, she called on citizens to join the clean-up action on Saturday, in line with epidemiological measures, by independently collecting waste in their environment, and to share their results with the LDI team on the website  www.ugruke.com. Šehić also presented the goal of World Cleaning Day, which is more than just collecting waste. It is a kind of message and drawing attention to the global problem of the harmful impact of waste and the need for its urgent solution.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a special partner of cleaning actions in 10 BiH cities and municipalities: Sarajevo, Jajce, Tuzla, Cazin, Zenica, Bosanski Petrovac, Pale, Konjic, Trebinje, and Žepce, and a special pleasure for us as the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the actions of cleaning the Olympic arenas - Bob track on Trebević and Malo polje on Igman - which we firmly believe will be places of sports gathering, training, and competition again in the future.

We hereby invite all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the action of the World Cleaning Day on Saturday, September 18, in their cities, municipalities, and streets and thus contribute to the improvement of our environment. Olympic values - excellence, friendship, and respect are not only Olympic but also universal values that we need to apply to all aspects of our lives and activities, especially in relation to the environment in which we live.

Let Olympic values and Olympism be the inspiration for the positive changes we will build together.
