OK BiH PRESENTED A PLAQUE TO HA BiH FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS IN BIH

In the premises of OC BiH, Academician President, prof. dr Izet Rađo and vice-presidents prof. dr. Milanko Mučibabić and Marijan Kvesić hosted the President of the Hockey Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Adnan Korić.

The reason for this meeting is the expansion and development of the hockey sport in BiH in men's and women's competition, the organization of international tournaments and competitions in BiH, as well as the excellent results of the BiH national hockey team and the BiH Hockey Federation.

As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of WOG '84, the Hockey Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized several competitions, and Mr. Korić was presented with a plaque based on all that was done.

In the last two years, the Hockey Federation of BiH hosted and organized two World Championships under the authority of the IHF, while the BiH national team achieved extraordinary results, namely:

- Junior World Championship, division III, group B - U 20 (January 25 - January 30, 2024 in Sarajevo) where the BiH hockey team won first place and a gold medal;
- Seniors World Championship, Division III, Group B (February 23 - February 29 2024 in Sarajevo) in which 6 national teams participated, and the BiH hockey players for the first time placed in the higher ranking of the competition, winning the gold medal.

Also, the IHF Development Cup - U 16 (01.02. - 04.02.2024 in Sarajevo) was organized in which 6 national teams participated, and the BiH national team took 2nd place, and a 3x3 competition in which the countries of the former Yugoslavia competed.

In the last 10 years, hockey has expanded in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thanks to better working conditions and infrastructure, in the next decade we expect BiH hockey players to be among the hockey elite in all competitions.

It is also worth highlighting the fact that BiH national team members are members of clubs in the region, Europe and the world (Slovenia, Sweden, America, Germany, etc.).

In addition to the membership of three "men's" clubs (HC "Medvjedi", HC "Vukovi" and HC "Ilidža 2010"), the Hockey Association also has the Women's Hockey Club "Lavice" Sarajevo.

The women's ice hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently in Estonia, where they will compete with the Israeli team today as part of the Women's Ice Hockey World Championship in Division IIIB.
