“PARAINSPIRED!” PROJECT IMPROVED PARASPORT IN BIH & SERBIA

The main goal of the project, implemented by the Olympic Committee of BiH, the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth of the Republic of Serbia, the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina and the Municipality of Indjija, was to support social integration by encouraging sustainable sports exchanges, and to increase participation of people with disabilities in sports activities in the border area of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of the project, numerous activities were realized, and among other things, parasportsmen of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are richer for vans equipped with a convenient ramp, sports equipment for table tennis, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. Also, various events were organized aimed at popularizing Paralympic sports and promoting sports for people with disabilities, such as promotional trainings, symposia and exhibition matches.

The "Parainspired" project also, for the first time, enabled a systematic and comprehensive research, as well as an analysis of the situation in the field of parasports in BiH. As a result of this research, numerous trainings have been successfully conducted, and a "Manual for parasport" has been published, which is intended for coaches and parasportists as a kind of guide for future projects and steps forward in the development of social integration of people with disabilities.

The participants of the conference, parasportists and other interested sports workers from both countries were addressed by prof. dr Ekrem Čolakhodžić, prof. Dr. Ifet Mahmutović and Irhad Bušatlić.

We remind you that the project is funded by the European Union under the IPA II Cross-border Cooperation Program Serbia - Bosnia and Herzegovina 2014-2020 with the support of the Directorate for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of European Integration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
