NOC of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo received the prestigious "Peace and Sport" award in Monaco

The Olympic Committee of BiH led by the President Prof. Dr. Izet Rađo, Vice President Siniša Kisić and Secretary General mr.sci. Said Fazlagić, Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka and East Sarajevo Mayor Nenad Vuković received great world recognition in Monaco for "Diplomatic action of the year in the world", on the occasion of the successful organization of the European Youth Olympic Festival - EYOF Sarajevo and East Sarajevo in February this year. The ceremony was held in the Opera House, and the award was presented by Prince Albert II of Monaco on behalf of the world-renowned world sports foundation "Peace and Sport". It is awarded each year under the auspices of Prince Albert II to an organization, individual or institution that has made "significant strides forward in the application of diplomacy through sport".  "We are proud that the Olympic spirit has returned to Olympic Sarajevo." We are proud that the idea of ​​"two cities in one dream" has become a reality. 

We would like to thank the President of the EOC, Dr. Janez Kocijančič and the European Olympic family who believed in us and who supported us in the implementation of EYOF, and we are grateful for the flattering recognition that obliges us to continue building peace and friendship together through sport in our country BiH "said the President of the Olympic Committee of BiH, Prof. Dr. Izet Radjo in his address at the gala ceremony." This is a great day for Sarajevo and its return to the world stage. EYOF was a historical and successful story for our country, for young people and for the whole country.  I am proud and thank you for recognizing our desire, energy and ability to turn the wheel of history and start sending beautiful and positive images from our country and our city to the world, "said Mayor Skaka after the award ceremony. Nenad Vuković, the mayor of East Sarajevo, said that the recognition was proof that EYOF was a great and successful story.

"It is my pleasure that we have shown the domestic and world public that we can host great sporting events," said Vuković after the award ceremony. The Peace and Sport Awards were held as part of the Forum, which brought together a large number of people from the world of sports and politics, including heads of states, strategic leaders from the business and sports world, Nobel Peace Prize winners, civil society and international organizations, and other top athletes.
