A press conference of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in the premises of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the transfer of two members of the Croatian national team to the Taekwondo team of BiH.

The transfer of Šegedin and Štetić will increase the chances of our country to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo and eventually win medals, given that they are top taekwondoists. A member of the executive board of the Taekwondo Federation of BiH, Samir Šarić, pointed out that this is a specific sport and that it is very difficult to qualify for the Olympic Games. "Every athlete's dream is the Olympic Games, and since there is a limited number of athletes who can participate from one country, Šegedin and Štetić decided to contact the Taekwondo Federation of BiH so as to participate under our flag. They will participate at the qualifications in Milan for Tokyo 2020, but also at other competitions where the BiH national team will take part, "said Saric.

He pointed out that the Taekwondo federations of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have established good cooperation and quickly enabled the transfer of athletes. He also pointed out that the Olympic Committee of BiH, headed by Izet Radjo and Said Fazlagić, enabled the resolution of administrative obstacles. Marija Štetić takes currently 15th position on the world ranking list for senior women, and among numerous medals, the bronze medals from the European Senior Championships in 2018 in Kazan and the Grand Prix in Morocco in 2017 stand out, as well as the placement from 5 to 8 position at the World Senior Championships in Korea in 2017. "I come from the Dubrava club, which already has an Olympic medal from the Beijing Games. That prompted me to try to win a medal in Tokyo this year as well.

The crown of every athlete is certainly the Olympic Games, so I plan to do my best in this competition", pointed out Štetić. Dinko Šegedin performed at world and European Competitions and achieved excellent results, including numerous medals at G1 and G2 tournaments. He is currently in the TOP 20 on the world ranking list, which ranks him among the holders and gives him a realistic chance of qualifying for the Olympics. "I am a black belt holder and as far as the results are concerned, I have six medals from various European competitions. As a member of the Croatian national team, I won 9th place at the 2017 World Cup. At the European Championships in Baku, I won the European Championships with the Croatian national team, and now we have reached a new chapter. The opportunity arose to competefor BiH and I gladly accepted it. He thanked the Olympic Committee of Croatia, as well as the Olympic Committee of BiH, and the Taekwondo Federations of Croatia and BiH ", said Šegedin. The president of the Taekwondo Federation of BiH, August Orlović, also addressed the audience, congratulating the arrival of the athletes and emphasizing that he hopes that they will bring the long-awaited medal for Taekwondo sport. "The expectations of the Taekwondo Federation are high, our management is trying to achieve good results for Bosnia and Herzegovina. This has not been the practice so far, but in cooperation with the Taekwondo Federation, we have reached out to bring reinforcements and to try to make a good result ", said Orlović. We remind you that, apart from Šegedin and Štetić, the most talented taekwondo player Nedžad Husić also has a chance to qualify. The three will take part in the qualifications in Milan in April. If they qualify, they will perform at the Olympic Games in Tokyo for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
