The BiH Olympic Committee is part of the large mission of the "Climate Action Officers" of the EU

As part of the Erasmus + "OCEAN" project financed by the European Commission (EU), which is led by the coordinator from Brussels, the European Olympic Committees (EOC), in Lausanne (Switzerland) in the period from March 19 to 21, 2024, a three-day meetings, negotiations and practical seminars for EU Climate Change Officers.

The project involves 19 countries, national Olympic committees and institutes, together with partners IOC and ANOC, in the fight against the consequences of climate change. This is more than the project itself, because it concerns not only the impact of climate change on sports, but also on life in general.

Interesting results obtained from the annual measurement of the carbon footprint of NOCs by the partner "OEKO" Institute - Germany were also presented.

The topic itself is becoming more and more interesting, and this is a large-scale project that, in addition to not only the educational and practical part, also has important strategic determinants that completely need to change the view, the paradigm of the complexity of this situation in every country. The European Commission strives to continuously improve the knowledge needed to create effective measures in the field.

The "OCEAN" team believes that with joint forces, strong influence and readiness for change, the consequences and daily effects of climate change on the life of ordinary people can be mitigated. EU member states have agreed on a range of climate and energy strategies and set clear targets.

Bosnia and Herzegovina should also be part of these strategic steps, and the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been actively working strategically on changes, improvements and education in this sphere for the second year already.
