The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates Olympism Day

Today, on the day of the founding of the Modern Olympic Games, the Olympic Day is celebrated in the organization of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Municipality of Teslić. The Olympic Committee of BiH, now a traditional celebration throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, has decided to organize Olympic Day 2021 in the Municipality of Teslić.

The Olympic Day was opened by the President of the Olympic Committee of BiH, Mr. Marijan Kvesić, in the presence of the Vice President of OK BiH, prof.dr. Milanko Mučibabić, Japanese Ambassador in BiH H.E. Ito Makoto, Assistant Minister for Sports in the RS Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports Marija Đurana and Mayor of Teslić Dr. Milan Miličević.

“OLYMPIC DAY IS A GREAT REMINDER THAT SPORT CAN UNITE US AND MAKE THE WORLD A MUCH BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US. ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR, THE TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES ARE SENDING A STRONG MESSAGE, AND THAT IS A MESSAGE OF UNITY. GATHERED TODAY, WE REMEMBER TOGETHER WHAT OLYMPIC VALUES ARE , BUT WE ALSO SHARE THE SENSE OF SOLIDARITY AND OPTIMISM WHICH IS A SPORT IN ALL OF US ", SAID THE PRESIDENT OF OK BIH, Mr. MARIJAN KVESIĆ.

H.E. Ito Makoto shared the joy that he can celebrate the Olympic Day together with BiH youth, which also marks 30 days until the start of the "Tokyo 2020" Olympics. The Ambassador of Japan of BiH wished good luck to the BiH Olympians who will compete at the "Tokyo 2020" Olympics, emphasizing that everything is ready for the safe Olympic Games in Tokyo.

More than 150 children had the opportunity to try 8 sports: football, handball, table tennis, archery, athletics, karate, badminton and basketball, all with the aim of promoting the Olympic spirit and Olympic values among the younger generations. Olympic Day 2021 is certainly more significant than the previous ones because it provides an opportunity for young people to be physically active after a long period of COVID-19 restrictive measures, which adversely affected their physical and mental condition.

This year, we celebrated the Day of Olympism with our top BH. athletes and Olympians, Hamza Alić, Kemal Mešić, Tatjana Đekanović and Mihajlo Čeprkalo, who promoted the values of Olympism among young people, and at the end of the Olympic Day handed Diplomas to all participants.
